The India mission was founded in 1948 after five sisters took a month long boat trip to this distant land. Since that time the order has flourished with 22 communities in many of the most poverty stricken areas of India. Currently there are 118 sisters in India and 33 in formation.

The sisters run an orphanage in Jhansi, India. They are also very involved in education, running schools and teaching. The poor are numerous where the sisters are located so they have many programs including schools for the deaf, health clinics, prison ministry, and social ministry for street children and local families.
